Who was Saint Winebald?

Winebald (Wunibald) was born in Wessex, England, around 701, the son of Saint Richard and brother of Saints Willibald and Walburga. As a young man he went on pilgrimage to Rome with his father and brother and later became a monk. He joined his relative Saint Boniface on the German mission, was ordained a priest and preached in Thuringia and Bavaria. With his sister Walburga he founded a double monastery at Heidenheim, where he died as abbot on December 18, 761.
