Who was Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary?

An ancient tradition, recorded in the Protoevangelium of James, says that Mary's parents brought her to the Temple in Jerusalem to dedicate her to God. The feast began in Jerusalem in the 6th century. In the East it is called the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple. It celebrates that Mary belonged completely to God from the start of her life.

Feast day and traditions

November 21 is also Pro Orantibus Day, when the Church prays for cloistered nuns and monks who give their lives to prayer.

Holy Mary, you gave yourself to God from your childhood. Help me offer Him my life each day. Amen.
