Saint Chaeremon and Companions

Chaeremon was the elderly bishop of Nilopolis, Egypt. During the persecution of Emperor Decius around 250, he and his wife fled to the mountains of Arabia and were never seen again. Saint Dionysius of Alexandria wrote of them and of many Christians who died of hunger, thirst and wild animals while hiding in the desert. He is often remembered with Saint Ischyrion.

They remind us of all Christians who have had to flee their homes because of their faith.
