Who was Saint Justus of Canterbury?

Justus was a monk sent from Rome by Pope Saint Gregory the Great in 601 to help Saint Augustine in the conversion of the English. In 604 Augustine consecrated him the first bishop of Rochester. When a pagan reaction broke out in 616 he had to flee to Gaul, but he returned the next year and continued his work. Around 624 he became the fourth Archbishop of Canterbury and consecrated Saint Paulinus to bring the Gospel to Northumbria; he died around 627.
